Traveling to Hawaii for vacation is fantastic no matter when you decide to make the journey. Whether you want to sit on the beach, visit an active volcano, or spend some time in the fun cities of Honolulu or Waikiki, there’s never a shortage of things to do in Hawaii. However, some people simply don’t want to deal with all of the big crowds that tend to visit the Islands during certain times of the year. In that case, you can simply decide to make your journey during the off season. That’s right; even Hawaii has an off season, if you can believe it.

When Is the Best Time to Visit?

There are several times of year considered to be the off season in Hawaii. Generally, the last two weeks in January and the month of February have fewer travelers. You may have a few more during Valentine’s Day, but it’s nothing compared to how busy it is during Christmas and New Years. September and October tend to be slower periods as well. So long as you aren’t traveling during the large holidays or during summer when families bring their children, you should be able to reap many of the off-peak benefits, which tend to include lower airfare.

Enjoying Hawaiian Vacations

When many people think about going on a Hawaiian vacation, they simply imagine themselves relaxing on the beach, dipping their toes in the water, and maybe sipping some tropical drinks. You are different though. You and your travel companion want to do some other activities that are a bit different and that can help to get the blood pumping a bit more. Fortunately, Hawaii has a number of great activities that cater to those who like the idea of adventure travel and who want a bit more from their vacation. Let’s look at some of the things that you can do to satiate the adrenalin fiend inside you.

The Volcanoes

Lava is terrifying. Yet, many people want to get as close to molten rock as possible. It’s certainly something that the adrenalin junkies tend to enjoy, and Hawaii is the perfect place for it. Travelers can take hiking trips to the rim of volcanoes and near lava fields. They can also take helicopter tours that will take them right over the volcano. While some cringe at this idea, many love the thought of it, and they love the photos they will be able to take just as much.
